Finished Glamburger recipe from the Undertale game series.

Ever since I put up the Butterscotch Cinnamon Pie recipe, I’ve gotten a lot of requests to do more Undertale food. It took a while to decide which item I wanted to do next, but I’m pretty happy with my decision. So, strike a post, because it’s Glamburger Time!

Little Glamburger macarons that is! Yes they’re not actual hamburgers, but the game claims they are made of edible glitter and sequins anyway. I don’t know about you, but when I hear “edible glitter” I’m thinking SUGAR, and there’s plenty of sugar in these little guys!

I’ll be honest with you all upfront, that making macarons is not cheap or easy and it may take a few tries before you get the hang of it. To that end, and because I’m not a pro yet myself, I’m going to be borrowing heavily from Chef Jacquy Pfeiffer’s macaron recipe in his book The Art of French Pastry.

Anyway, let’s get started! Order up, Burgerpants!

Finished sweetrolls popover recipe from the Elder Scroll Skyrim game series. H

HappyNew Year, everyone! Here’s a request I’ve gotten from a few separate individuals: the renowned pastry of the Elder Scrolls series, the Sweetroll.

Unlike many of the Sweetroll recipes by other nerdy chefs I checked out, this procedure is essentially a popover made in a mini bundt pan instead of a cake or muffin. With a very hot oven temperature you’ll observe a dramatic rise in the batter that, when inverted, will yield this iconic shape with an almost hollow interior. Another happy coincidence in using a popover batter is that the necessary ingredients are exactly the same as those needed in game (although in different quantities), which I thought was very cool. So grab a salt pile, a jug of milk and click ‘Continue Reading,’ and we can get started on this Fus-Ro-Dahlicious pastry!

You can blame my friend, Fox, for the pun…   ._.

I know I kind of fell off the wagon these past few weeks, but I’m not here to give excuses; I’m here to give RESULTS!

If you look for it, you can find the Hylian language throughout many of the Legend of Zelda games: on signs, gravestones, and sometimes even bottles. What you may not have been aware of however, is that, more often than not, the symbols are merely a cipher for Japanese or English writing systems and can therefore be easily translated! One curious example of this writing can be found inside the cafe on Windfall Island in The Wind Waker.

TODAY’S RECOMMENDATIONS

Lon Lon Milk -> 150

Deku Nut Cake -> 300

Zora Coffee -> 250

And so, dear readers, I have endeavored to create this Deku Nut Cake without any actual in game iteration or description. This is probably as far removed from canonical game food as I’m willing to get so let’s get to it for my final Zelda Month recipe!

Wait, it’s December what now!?

What is a Deku Nut?

Much like how my local grocery store doesn’t import from Ordon Farm, Deku Nuts aren’t something I find on the shelves either. Fortunately, however, this time of year is famous for “chestnuts roasting on an open fire” and it just so happens that they make a great substitute! We won’t be doing any open flame cooking in the recipe but you should be able to find chestnuts relatively easily in your local grocery store.

So grab a pound or so, click ‘Continue Reading,’ and follow along!

As Zelda month draws to a close, I bring you the final soup from Snowpeak Ruins. I’ve admittedly fallen behind schedule a bit, but even if it goes up in early December, I do have one more Legend of Zelda recipe up my sleeve for you guys. That being said, it’s time for a cup of cozy.

Deep in the puzzling labyrinth of Snowpeak Ruins, there is a chest containing a wheel (or rather a torus) of Ordon Goat Cheese. Although not nearly as cool as the Ball and Chain or helpful as the Big Key, this fine ingredient can once again be brought to Yeto to be made into a healthful elixir.

Unfortunately, my grocery store doesn’t import from Ordon Village, so I had to substitute normal goat cheese for this recipe. But adding to that some roasted potatoes and a little beer (gasp!), we can still make quite the Superb Soup indeed!

Jeez, Link. Don’t look so disappointed…

Zelda month continues this week, with another recipe from Twilight Princess. Despite its innocuous name, this ‘Good Soup’ is really quite delicious.

After completing the Simple Soup in Snowpeak Ruins, you can bring Yeto an Ordon Pumpkin to create the more hearty and health fulfilling Good Soup. This recipe was developed from scratch, so I’ll be going over how to make your own homemade vegetable stock and roasting whole pumpkins. If you don’t have the time, however, pre-made veg stock and canned pumpkin can be substituted.

 November is Zelda month. At least it is to PeanutButterGamer (check out his YouTube channel and subscribe if you aren’t already). I’ve been a fan of his videos for a while now, and I thought I’d get into the spirit by putting together a month’s worth of Legend of Zelda recipes for you all!

The Legend of Zelda series doesn’t have much in the way of food that doesn’t come in the form of a potion. However, in Twilight Princess, making soups is integral to your completion of the Snowpeak Ruins dungeon. The first soup you make is appropriately named ‘Simple Soup’ and it’s made with what’s called a Reekfish from Zora’s Domain.

Although not a real fish, the Reekfish shares several similarities with a real world salmon. Its general shape, strong smell, and the fact that it’s found in cold waters are some good indicators of this. To this end, I’ll be using salmon fillet in the recipe. If your local grocery store happens to have a fresh seafood section, I’d suggest asking one of the fish mongers for a boneless fillet, instead of purchasing something frozen. Skin-on is fine, as I’ll be explaining how to remove it later in the recipe.

Speaking of the recipe, click ‘Continue Reading’ and let’s get to it!

I really enjoyed Kirby’s Epic Yarn so when they announced a new ‘yarn’ game, I was pretty pleased. To take such a cool aesthetic and mix it in with the great gameplay of SMW2: Yoshi’s Island can only make for a fun gaming experience. To celebrate the release of Yoshi’s Wooly World, I thought I might try some of the iconic Yoshi Cookies from one of the green dinosaur’s first games way back on the NES. I mean, where else do you get to see Mario dressed up like a chef? I hope you enjoy them!

Slice of Butterscotch Cinnamon Pie from Undertale game series.

The hotly anticipated UNDERTALE was released on Steam a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been having a ton of fun with it. Being a non-traditional RPG, I was excited to see what kind of recovery items this game had to offer, and I was not disappointed! Compared to the other food in the game (read: Spider Cider), this recipe is pretty tame, but it’s absolutely perfect for the new Autumn season.

So which do you like better? Cinnamon or Butterscotch?
